Lurline Bay House is a bespoke off-form concrete home with an awe-inspiring four-storey atrium, dramatic marble, sculpted curves and two pavilions capturing expansive coastal views. But it is what you do not see that makes the construction and finish so spectacular. With a focus on materiality and the highest quality of workmanship, every element and detail of Lurline Bay House is built to architect specification.
The first two floors anchor the house and integrate the building into the landscape and streetscape. Two double-storey split pavilions float on concrete blades, pivoted to face south-east. Large-scale glass panels deliver expansive views over the coast and ocean. Behind that facade, each room is bespoke: off-form concrete, soft curves, timber joinery, striking marble.
A dramatic four-storey atrium separates the front and back of the house and filters light deep into the floor plan, washing the off-form concrete walls with a dynamic play of light and shadow. The kitchen at the rear flows seamlessly out to the marble infinity-edge pool. The quality of construction, the use of materials, the design challenges and the innovation are intrinsically linked. Materials are used in unique ways and combinations. Every junction is highly considered and executed.

The atrium required precise formwork preparation, an early-morning concrete delivery window and continuous oversight to achieve the AS-3610 Class 1 finish across the entire vertical structure. The shutter pattern was set out by hand to align with the timber stair treads above.
Every concrete blade, every junction, every interface between marble, timber and bronze was set out on site before being committed. The standard the drawings demanded was the standard the home was built to.
